And our own individual ability to adapt to those changes in our life, determine our own level of happiness, satisfaction, and ‘survivability.’

They are 100% accurate and the sad thing is that – there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it. But, that’s also the good news. We can stop chasing after permanence. (i.e. too much sugar added to an unripe sample will result in a wine that is ‘out of balance’ or too high an alcohol level for the desired style). STICK CLOSELY TO RECIPES.
6. Regular tasting during the ferment ensures that you are aware of what is going on, and any problem can be spotted quickly, and action taken. This is what winemaking is all about, teaching your palate to detect defects in the young wines. Practice will make perfect as you learn about what shouldn’t be happening in the fermentation just as much as what should be.
7. After fermentation when the new wine needs to be racked (removal of wine off the dead yeast cells or lees) keep contact with air to a minimum. Failure to do this will increase the chances of oxidation taking place. An oxidised wine is foul to taste, and most probably will have to be discarded.
8. Use good, sterilized bottles at bottling time, and seal with high quality corks where possible – this will allow you to lay your wine down for many years if required.

Joins don’t fit together: You have taken care to have joins that are tight enough, but when paint the glue on and try to draw the join together, it will not go. It is either you have joins that are very tight or you pulled joints together and experienced a lock-up.

To prevent too tight joints, dry it first. If you have to thump the joints together with a mallet, you should loosen the joint before you add glue to it. If the joint is a mortise and tenon, shear the tenon until you can push the join together easily using your hand.

If the join still locks up on you when you assemble it, you have to do some mallet tapping and clamping to make it move again. It depends on the time the join has been locked, you may not get it to dislodge. Avoiding a locked joint is as easy as testing the join and sanding it if it is tight the first time it is assembled.

If you pal becomes less alert or lethargic, or stops barking at everything like all silkies do, then take her to the vet right away as something more than diarrhea is bothering her.

So that’s how you treat the little long haired critter for the runs. I’m sure you already know this, but being able to identify and care for your silky’s health issues only tightens the bond between the two of you and that’s a pretty good thing. Right?

6. They’re temporary. And who wants to print out their eCard on the office laser printer anyway? Whoever said that ‘Toner Black’ is the new green & red was seriously disturbed! [My wife likes to put our Christmas cards on display to show friends how popular we are 😉 Just try that with an eCard!]
7. And lastly… Email is ‘quick’ and ‘convenient’ – Christmas cards shouldn’t be…Take a moment a show someone you really care.
