Australia is providing a lot of facilities to work in this country. One of them is visa subclass 485. Under this, a candidate can live or work in Australia after completing his studies here. The most important thing about this visa is that you can only avail it once as the main applicant.

You can apply for this visa under two categories:

• Graduate work-Under this category, you can apply if you have received an educational qualification related to the ones mentioned on the Skilled Occupation List. This visa is provided to the applicant for a period of 18 months from the time he applies.

You can also bring your family to Australia with you on this visa. The visa holder can also register himself on the JobSearch website of the Australian government to find a relevant job for himself. Now, there is a skill assessment which is required for the granting of the 485 visa made mandatory by the ACT (Australian Computer Society). This skill assessment will recognize the crucial ICT (Information and communications technology) skills of a candidate.

If the subclass 485 visa holder is able to get a permanent job in this country, he can also register himself for permanent visa subclass 189. This visa class does not require any nomination from the state governments or the employers.

There is, however, ACT requirements which are required to prove your worth under the general skilled migration program of the visa subclass 189. These requirements include a mandatory 1-year work experience in Australia related to the completed Australian educational qualification and the other mandatory requirement is finishing ACS Professional Year Program of duration 1 year so that a proper skills assessment is received.

There is a colossal demand for people with ICT skills in Australia. The government has understood the need for such skills because they help in a better delivery of services, cost reduction and improvement in efficiency. The government has also introduced the new e-Government strategy due to which it is experiencing a demand for IT labor. That’s why, the Australian Public Service is hiring IT laborers in various domains like systems analysis, project management, security management, software development and website administration.

The supply of ICT laborers is also decreasing in Australia. This is because there is not much interest in gaining an education of this kind which is manifesting itself in decreasing enrollments in such courses. There is also immigration of ICT staff abroad from Australia.
